THE JUNTA DE ANDALUCÍA DENIES NUDIST SIGNAGE IN CANTARRIJÁN

The Junta de Andalucía wanted to make a hasty gift from Kings last minute to the Association of Friends of the Nudist Beach of Cantarriján. And this has been in the form of bad coal: The Ministry of Environment and Land Management has DENIED the request that this association had requested months ago, through the City Council of Almuñécar, of the Information Poster that advertised the sexitana beach of Cantarriján as "Playa de Tradición Nudista".

This ban on a more than necessary panel that informs users of the practice of nudism in Cantarriján, has also come preceded by a series of denials to other important requests that had been satisfactorily agreed at the official meeting that the board of this nudist association maintained last August with Inmaculada Oria, the Territorial Delegate in Granada of the Ministry of environment of the Junta de Andalucía , such as the inclusion in the 2019 Beach Plan of the beaconing and protection of the maritime area of the Natural Site or a sanitary service in the

area. The Board of Directors of AAPNC has expressed its full disagreement at the resolutions made by the Andalu

sian Agency." First, we were sent a letter discussing point by item the treated and agreed at the meeting we held with the Delegate and the Head of Protected Natural Area Services – says Jesús Segarra, President of the singing association – At that meeting, it was all good faces and good words. Vital issues were agreed for the Beach and the Site. We were invited to establish with them the requests we put on the table to include them in this year's Beach Plan, which, in Mrs May's words. Oria, they would be commissioned since the City Council of Almuñécar was not going to do it. In addition, we were asked to do them in writing by registration and haste, as they would begin to prepare such a plan from October. But we come across the unpleasant surprise that they answer to us that they are not competent to carry out our requests.

" And now, the auction is prohibited by prohibiting us a public poster that informs citizens of the naturist character of the beach

" – adds Segarra.La request of this information poster was held on October 16th, through the Environment Delegation of the City of Almuñécar. A signage that meets all the specifications required by the environmental council of La Junta de Andalucía to the City Council of Almuñécar. From dimensions, materials or content thereof, to geolocations of such posters." All well d

etailed and exposed, in a magnificent work done by the technical area of Luis Aragón – says the President of AAPNC – but that has turned out to be a great waste of time for both them and us and everything that we have been developing with the great nudist collective of Cantarriján" – concludes. The offi

cial reason why they prohibit the poster within the limits of the Paraje de Los Acantilados de Maro-Cerro Gordo is because its Head of Services, Antonio González, considers that this poster is not linked to the PUBLIC USE contained in the PORN (Natural Resources Management Plan). But the PORN has no skills in public infrastructure and signage. In reality, it is the RENPA (Network of Protected Natural Spaces of Andalusia) that regulates public use and its purpose in these areas of special prot

ection. According to the RENPA, public use is understood as the set of recreational, social, educational or cultural activities, which the citizen can perform in the natural spaces with the intention of enjoying and knowing

his Heritage. Its objectives promote public use, with information, the provision of equipment and that of instruments and resources for t

his purpose. These posters, which only provide PUBLIC information to all visitors, are informative signs that do not produce transformations in the territory, with minimal environmental impact, in line with the different regulations in this regard, and that provide the experience of the natural and cultural values of a singular environment. Th

e Playa de Cantarriján, as a public place nestled within this unique environment, whose only access is through part of the Natural Park in question, must possess such information of its public use in its main entrances. In a

ddition, public use should always be educational. The information about its beach character of nudist tradition, guarantees the knowledge of the space and its values by all citizens. An

d this information of its PUBLIC USE, is suitable for all visitors, which must be available to the possibilities of its use and open to everyone, using a means of communicating it efficiently. As it is, an information panel.

This information will serve to guide visitor visits and flows, according to the models and objectives established by RENPA itself, and for which the PORN should be governed in this regar

d. Because public use is based on sustainability. Not only in conservation, but also in the socio-economic field, providing an informational or tourist support service to the visitor. Constituting this principle as part of public use and thus guaranteeing an offer that facilitates the approach of visitors to the aforementioned natural and cultural values of the protected natural space and highlighting the genuine values of Cantarriján, for whose purpose these information panels have been requested to be

installed. Having said that, the association's arguments for not valid this prohibition, are based on Article 4.4.1 of the Plan for the Management of the Natural Resources of the Cliffs of Maro-Cerro Gordo (PORN) which says: "The management and management of the public use of this space will be based on the inspiring principles and objectives set out in the public use management document in the Network of Protected Spaces of Andalusia (RENPA), action strategy that was approved by resolution of 19/11/2003", clearly setting out the reasons for the aforementioned RENPA in order to conclude that the information panels requested are not only not prohibited, but are necessary so that the inf
ormation to the visitor is not offered biased. Information, of course, for public use intended for each and every citizen who visits both the place and the beach of Cantarriján." We have

used against them the arguments for which we are rejected by the poster, with the same legislation that they themselves have used and which they do not know in its entirety, to see that it is clearly not prohibited at all, but that it is advisable that that poster be installed. The prohibition carried out is a totally subjective and arbitrary opinion made by Mr. González and accepted by the Territorial Delegate, Mrs. Oria" – says one of the environmental managers with which the association is working – "but we know that the real reasons are other." A conversatio

n has been held after this writing, unofficially, with one of the leaders of the Junta de Andalucía, to tell us finally, that they do not contemplate the practice of naturism and that these posters will not be authorized" – says Jesús Segarra – "That is the reality that hides behind the prohibition". B

ut Cantarriján was already recognized as a nudist beach long before it existed as such the Natural Park. Specifically since September 6, 1982, by an ordinance that the Civil Government of Granada issued to the City Council of Almuñécar on its acceptance of nudist use. Ordinance that, moreover, tacitly requested that the beach be well signposted as

such. And that has not been fulfilled or fulfilled by the current government of the commun
ity of Andalusia.Even the institutional advertising that is made of Cantarriján by the Ministry of environment itself and other Official Agencies, such as the Ministry of Tourism, the catalog and publicita as a nudist beach, both on their respective websites and

in other media." It is neither logical nor coherent that Cantarriján's non-signage is because of personal criteria or tastes, poorly armed under laws that neither know nor know how to interpret correctly"-it is argu

ed from the nudist association." Our collective, they conclude, will not accept this unfair and unfounded prohibition and we will use all the legal, technical and media means necessary to assert our right to have Cantarriján publicly reflected as a nudist beach. You can't force anyone to get dressed or undress on a beach, but at least the one who comes to it has the right to be informed that in this area of the coast, you will find people who do not wear swimwear to enjoy their beach day. We are being denied the right to let people know the reality of Cantarriján publicly. We feel let down by the representatives of the Junta de Andalucía and by extension, so will the thousands of nudists who come to the beach year after ye
ar". Nevertheless, the singers still hold the hope that the arguments to be made will change the meaning of the opinion and that, finally, their response will be in favour of the long-awaited nudist signage.
